Pabrinex Intramuscular High Potency

Pabrinex Intramuscular High Potency Injection provides additional vitamins B and C to correct deficiencies. This may be the case in instances such as in alcoholism, after infections, or after operations.

Pabrinex Intramuscular injection should only be administered by a qualified professional and should be injected into a muscle only, and not administered by any other route. This product comes in two 5ml and 2ml ampoules.

Pabrinex IM administration

The contents of one ampoule number 1 and one ampoule number 2 of Pabrinex Intramuscular High Potency (total 7 ml) are drawn up into a syringe to mix them just before use, then injected slowly high into the gluteal muscle, 5cm below the iliac crest.

Can IM pabrinex be given IV?

Pabrinex-I/M High Potency injection is for intramuscular use only. Pabrinex I/V High Potency injection is for intravenous use only.

How long do you give pabrinex for?

Intravenous – two to three pairs of ampoules administered over 30 minutes every 8 hours, or at the discretion of the physician, for 3 to 5 days. Pabrinex should only be administered where facilities for treating anaphylaxis are available.

Can pabrinex be given in the arm?

Pabrinex-IM, the contents of which are mixed from two ampoules, is usually given by slow injection into your gluteal (bottom) muscle by a healthcare professional. This medicine is for injection into a muscle only and should not be given by any other route.

Can pabrinex be given in normal saline?

Dilute before use. Pabrinex Intravenous High Potency, Concentrate for Solution for Infusion should be administered by drip infusion. Equal volumes of the contents of ampoules number 1 and 2 should be added to 50 ml to 100 ml physiological saline or 5% glucose and infused over 30 minutes.

What are the side effects of Pabrinex?

Pabrinex-IVHP may cause sneezing or mild asthma (chest tightness and wheezing) or even anaphylactic shock if you have become hypersensitive. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breast-feeding. Ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine.
